Remove a Participant

The ride creator or an admin removes a participant from the ride, blocking them from rejoining.

Who Can Do This

  • Creator
  • Admins

Steps

  1. Open the ride's participant list.
  2. Select the participant to remove.
  3. Choose Remove from Ride.
  4. Confirm the action.

Rules

  • A participant can be removed at any point before the ride's end time passes, regardless of whether their RSVP is approved or still pending.
  • If the participant has an active navigation or intercom session, it is closed immediately on removal.
  • The removed participant is added to the ride's block list. They cannot re-RSVP to this ride.
  • Removing a participant frees their maxRiders slot immediately, allowing another rider to RSVP.
  • The block list is ride-specific — it does not affect the participant's access to other rides.
  • The removed participant receives a notification.
  • Admins can remove regular participants. Only the creator can remove an admin.
  • The creator cannot be removed by anyone — not by admins, not by the group owner, not by any other participant. Use Transfer Ownership to change who the creator is.

What Happens Next

The participant is removed from the ride and loses access to navigation, intercom, and the participant list. Their RSVP is deleted. They cannot re-RSVP.

Unblocking a Participant

The creator can unblock a participant from the ride's block list at any time. Unblocking removes them from the block list only — no RSVP is reinstated. The previously removed participant can then submit a fresh RSVP, subject to the same rules as any new RSVP (approval queue, capacity, ride status). Admins cannot unblock; only the creator can.

The creator can also bulk-clear the entire block list from the ride settings screen. Bulk-clearing unblocks all previously blocked participants at once.

The block list has no size limit and does not expire.

Failure Cases

  • Ride end time passed: participants cannot be removed after the ride has ended.
  • Not authorised: a regular participant cannot remove others. An admin cannot remove another admin — only the creator can.
  • Target is the creator: the creator cannot be removed by anyone. The action is blocked regardless of who initiates it.

Planned — not yet live: Participant removal is not yet implemented.
