Rotate Invite Link

The ride creator generates a new invite code for a private ride, automatically revoking the old link.

Who Can Do This

  • Creator
  • Admins

Only applies to standalone private rides.

Steps

  1. Open the ride.
  2. Select Rotate Link.
  3. Confirm the action.
  4. Share the new link.

Rules

  • Rotating generates a new invite code and appends it as a query parameter to the ride URL. The old invite code is invalidated immediately.
  • Anyone who follows the old link after rotation sees an invalid or expired link error and cannot access the ride.
  • Link invalidation only affects new users attempting to join via the old link. Any user who has already RSVPed — including those with a pending (unapproved) RSVP — is unaffected. Their RSVP status and access remain intact.
  • The new link must be re-shared by the creator or admins through external channels.
  • There is no limit on how many times the link can be rotated.
  • When an admin rotates the link, the creator receives a notification. When the creator rotates it themselves, no notification is sent.

What Happens Next

The old link stops working immediately. The creator shares the new link through their preferred external channel (WhatsApp, social media, etc.).

Failure Cases

  • Not a private ride: rotation is not available for public rides or group rides. Group rides do not use invite-code links for access control.
  • Not authorised: only the creator or an admin can rotate the link.

Planned — not yet live: Invite code generation and link rotation are not yet implemented.
